In the State of Uttar Pradesh, at Meerut, U.P. India, where the stone of the earliest
republic was laid and the crop of democracy cultivated, a need was felt to develop
one quality Law College which would provide not only quality legal education but
also strive to raise legal standards and professionalism in Lawyers and in Law Academia.
Further to develop a competitive International environment and to promote global
legal consciousness in the community for realization of goals of the society and
objectives embodied in the Constitution of India, a law College named Sardar Patel
Subharti Institute of Law came into being in September 2002 with the idea of training
youngsters to become persons like ‘India’s greatest national leader fondly called
the ‘Loh Purush’ Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Subharti Institute of Law (SARPA-SIL) has been started
in lush green & healthy surroundings in a grand and fascinating building in the
sacred memory of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. As the law College is named after Sardar
Patel (The Iron Man - first Home Minister and well known lawyer) the objective of
the College is also to fulfill the vision of him to provide quality legal education
in our country. In 2008 the entire educational setup under the K.K. B. Charitable
Trust took the shape of University and was named as Swami Vivekanand Subharti University
under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956 (vide notification no. F.9-37/2008(CPP-1)
dated- 06/02/2009). The Bar Council of India under Advocates Act 1961 duly accorded
its approval to the University (vide its letter no. BCI: D: 1081/2009 (LE:Mtg.)
dated 30/06/2009) to run the academic courses under the faculty of Law and thus
the goal to achieve our mission began.
The object of Subharti Law College is to build on the conventional ethos of India
and to create a temple of learning. It aims to impart quality legal education and
organize advanced studies and research in all branches of law. The Law college is
imparting education for B.A.-LL.B five years integrated course from 2002. After
becoming one of the constituent college of the Swami Vivekanand Subharti University,
the Law college has also started Masters Course in Law i.e. LL.M., having two Elective
Group systems as per the need of corporate global challenges. The Law College has
already started Ph.D. Course along with five PG. Diploma courses of one year during
last academic session. LL.D. is also under process and very soon going to be started.
